knitting journal: ribbed scarflette

I bought this Rowan Country yarn in the sales two years ago (!) and its been sitting in storage since. I’d got five balls, and had planned to make a big manly scarf for my dad out of it, but after searching Ravelry high and low it turns out there are NO interesting patterns for chunky wool, not even girly ones. I tried making something up myself, but realised that the reason there are no interesting patterns is that doing anything other than rib or moss stitch just looks silly unless you’ve got a blanket sized project.

So I just made a simple P2, K1 scarflette, stuck a vintage button on, and you know what, its actually really cute. I reckon this would work for a man too, and I’ll try and get dave to pose for some pics too, but in the meantime its just me:
