Outfit 11 August

11 August 2009

Hi, I’m back from my mini-break! We went to the Summer Sundae music festival in Leicester, it was ace fun! I have many pictures, but in the interest of chronology, this outfit pic comes first.

I wore this on Wednesday to go for a cycle ride. I’ve been noticing more and more cyclists riding in funky clothes recently*, and thought I would give it a try. This is the first time I’ve ever ridden in a skirt with nothing underneath (and by nothing, I mean tights, leggings and trousers, not pants/knickers. Just to clarify). The dress has a slit at the back for movement (and is also a little stretchy) I did catch sight of myself in a shop window while waiting at a red light, and saw quite a bit more leg than I would have ideally wanted, but probably no shorter than the skirts people wear as a matter of course. Nobody had a heart attack anyway and I got no wolf whistles, so its all good.

dress – skunkfunk, bought in Berlin
shoes – keds

* Also many without helmets, which is BAD in a city that is not set up for cyclists. Both my dad and Dave were in serious accidents that would have been nothing had they been wearing helmets. I understand the flat hair issue, but there’s nothing that makes you get over hair vanity more than a near miss. Until we have proper cycle paths and educated drivers, I’m sticking with the helmet.

This is such a great dress, good for you for trying it – I haven't biked in a skirt yet! (While maybe in my teens)
