Worn to see Mando Diao in Glasgow last night. They are a funny band: they are huge in Germany (they’re Swedish), yet completely unknown in Britain. Last time we saw them (about 3 years ago), they were playing a small venue, which was really busy. This time the venue was a bit bigger, but only about a quarter full. There was maybe 150 people there. To be fair to them, they didn’t let this perturb them at all, they gave an amazing show. They had two backing singers in 60s cocktail dresses, jumping and clapping and shimying along, and the two singers have a got a great stage chemistry, kind of like the libertines before they went shit. They really deserve to be much bigger than they are! And although there wasn’t many people there*, a big proportion of them were hardcore fans, who got very excited and shouty (in a good way).
* I originally wrote their instead of there, and that’s one of my pet hates! tsk tsk!
