14.11.09: Stripes and jeans and butterflies

brooches

bag and shoesies

This outfit is basically a mix of this one and this one. I wore this for Sunday lunch and to see Tegan and Sara. They were excellent, and because I’m feeling rambly, I’m going to give you a few reflections:
* They look way more different from each other in real life than their pictures.
* Their songs sound very different when played live. Different as in Tegan’s songs sound different from Sara’s.
* They encourage their audience in making this distinction between Tegan songs and Sara songs
* Tegans songs sound like classic folkrock, whereas Sara’s are more synthy sounding (like 80s Madonna, Dave says)
* I prefer the Sara ones, especially Night Watch off the new album, and Walking with a Ghost of course
* They tell good random stories
* They have a huge following of hardcore fans
* Maybe because of this, they are the only band I have ever seen to have a security guard actually onstage.
* Tegan sometimes pronounces Sara as Sarah and sometimes as Zara.

Right, that’s enough! I get a bit carried away when making lists.

I took this picture in the garden, and while I managed to overcome the glary light problem, I neglected to consider that my hair is the same colour as the bricks. the search for a good garden photo taking spot continues.

Cute shirt dress and awesome bag! I think I like Tegan and Sara themselves much more than I like their music. Sorry to say, but it's true! I tried listening to their last album (before this current one) and I just couldn't really get into it aside from the big single, "Back in Your Head." I was so enamoured with the girls, however, that I've seen several interviews, DVD clips, random stage banters in which they tell stories, etc. and I just love their sense of humor and their individual personalities. I should give their music another try, though.

Anyways, I do like how you summarized the night with those little points! Ha, they were fun to read.

That's a lovely outfit =] All snuggly for autumn but with pretty details. The butterfly pin is very nice indeed, I love the fact it's from when you were lickle.

I really like them but can totally see why people don't. Funnily enough, Dave thought all the songs were boring except Back in your Head (he'd never heard any of it before) so youre in good company!

I really like the light and texture of the brick wall behind you! I've had my hair blend in too before- odd happenstance isn't it?
    Cute shots all around,
