13.12.09: Navy smock dress

stitching

I discovered recently that one of the Oxfams in Edinburgh has got new stuff from (fair trade clothing company) People Tree at completely reasonable prices! A dangerous discovery for what little space remains in my wardrobe!

I got seduced into thinking that I could pull off a smock dress (how lovely is it? look at the emboidery!), but really my shape demands a defined waist. I think I will be wearing this belted in the future despite the emroidery. Dave had the idea of attaching some ties (?) at the side, so you can tie it together at the back. I may try that if I can find some decent material to make the ties with.

Happy Weekend! Today was my last day at work for 2009!

This dress is oh so gorgeous! I adore embroidery, it always catches my eye. You're so lucky! And I think it's a good idea to tie the dress at the back so that you don't lose the beautiful roses on the front. You look fine without the belt though. Have a happy pre-holiday week!

I like it without a belt. I know what you mean, I always feel like I need more shape too. But it really does look cute.

I love the embroidery on it. It gives a statement itself without any accessories.
