I made a new cowl at the weekend. Dave persuaded me to buy the yarn when we were last in Luxembourg/Germany, so I’ve had it for ages, but never really knew what to do with it. It’s varies hugely in thickness – the red bits are thin and suitable for 4 or 5mm needles, the white bits are really chunky, and more like a 7 or 8mm. Which basically makes it impossible to do anything other than garter stitch with it, and I prefer my knits to have at least a little bit of pattering going on.
But in the end I just went with it and now I really like it! This is going to the Magpie craft fair, and I hope it’ll keep someone very cozy.
Anyway, five ways to wear your cowl:
1. folded inwards and pulled down
2. as a shrug, pulled over the shoulders
3. simple, without any folding
4. folded outwards
5. wrapped twice around the head
I also took pictures of a couple of more unusual ways of wearing it (as a scarf/ headscarf combo and as a headwrap/hat thing), but my facial expression was weird, and I’m too vain to show the photos.
