This is the first ever male music and style! I don’t think Lightspeed Champion is particularly well known anywhere, but I love him! He used to be in the Test Icicles, who were briefly famous nu-rave-punk Hoxton types (although I think the other two band members may have been Americans), with more style than substance. Then he went solo and does the loveliest lo-fi folky music, so in contrast to the way he looks. I wasn’t so keen on the nu-rave clothes of the TI period, but I love the mix of traditional plaid, tartan, tweed and deerstalkers with the massive hair and geek-chic glasses. He looks so different in a sea of skinny jeaned indie kids, without breaking completely with that style of dress.

He has an enjoyable blog, and flickr.

Oh, and the formatting is all over the place in the preview and I can’t work out why. I’m hoping it’ll be fine once this post goes live (its a scheduled one), sorry if not!

I used to listen to a band called the Test Icicles, but I suspect they were different as this band played in bars in Ontario and mostly did cover songs (oh, and also shamed themselves for life by appearing in a Kaylan Porter music video, a fact they tried to deny, but we knew it was them). All I know is, no one in that band had hair as cool as this guy!

I'll have to check it out!

All the bands you have featured I have been big fans of, so I trust your musical taste 🙂
