Outfit 1.5.10: purple, green and blue

21.5.10: purple, green and blue

shoesies, again

This is what I wore for pizza and to see Robin Hood. I thought the film was pretty rubbish because:

(1) The story didn’t make sense. I might just about buy that a ‘common archer’ has hidden inspiring leadership chat up his sleeve, but swordfighting and French? These are not things you can do without a hell of a lot of practice. It would have made so much more sense for him to actually be Sir Robert rather than impersonating him.

(2) The accents. Seriously. Russell Crowe’s is the worst, veering between Irish, Liverpuddlian and what presumably is meant to be East Midlands, but Cate Blanchet’s is not far behind. She’s a great actress but she cannot do accents. I suppose none of us know what people sounded like in the middle ages, but then they may as well have had all the actors speak in their own voices for all the consistency it provided.

(3) Mark Strong looks like he has been teleported in from a different film. They’ve done a good job of making everyone else look realistically dusty, hairy and dishevelled, but he’s all clean and shiny.

(4) Why to the baddies always have to be attractive but overgroomed, vain and sleazy? Exactly the same as in Gladiator. How about an ugly, or a properly nice looking baddy?

At least it was rubbish in a fun way!

Has anyone seen it? Do you agree?

t shirt – oddities
skirt – an old one I dyed blue
shoes – topshop
earrings – hm, circa 1993(!)

    Those shoes are delightfully cheeky.

I'm sure I would've had the exact same objections to the film, and can now save my money!

Robin Hood apparently is 2.5 hours, I can't stomach that so I skipped it haha, good thing I did

    oh your shoes are lovely!

That shirt! Oh, that shirt! I love it.

I haven't seen the movie, but I probably will because my mum and I have a long-standing tradition of watching all Robin Hood movies (did you know there have been over 40 made?). Plus, PLUS, Alan Doyle, the lead singer of my favorite band, Great Big Sea, is in the movie as one of the Merry Men, so that's reason enough to see it for me.

    Oooh, I like those shoes!

I'm not sure about going to see Robin Hood. Russell Crowes accent even in the trailers drives me nuts!

Yeah, I am a huge Robin Hood fan (Disney and Kevin Costnar) but have been dreading this one….
