1.5.10

This is what I wore on Saturday night to Dave’s birthday drinks (his birthday was on Sunday). I was hopelessly overdressed and the only person not to wear jeans, but I had stayed in all day baking cakes so I felt like spending some time getting ready. Plus it was the first time lots of people were going to see the engagement ring, so I wanted to be dressy.

And yes, that is meant to be a beehive! It is testament to my extremely fine and not exactly luscious hair type that I have stuffing under there and still it just looks like a normal updo looks like on other people. I do however think it looks pretty good, and if I can just get some practice to get it more sleek and polished (or get someone to do it for me) then I might do that for the wedding ceremony day.

If you’re interested, I followed the Strawberry Koi tutorial (found via m.bibelot on flickr) but used a pair of rolled up fishnets instead of the hair extensions. I really don’t have enough hair to actually cover anything big!

earrings – Dave’s mum made them
everything else – charity shop

I feel ya on the fine hair – mine is fine but curly/wavy and STILL won't tease up/do volume. *pout* The dress is super cute, though, and I always say I'd rather be overdressed than underdressed!

As always, your incredible use of color makes this totally incredible. I love the bangles!

The colours are awesome, and can't believe that's a thrifted dress! The style suits you 100% and I want one just like it!

I'm always overdressed at events, but not sure if that makes me over the top, or other people lazy? I don't even own a pair of jeans at the moment!

    Happy Birthday Dave!

    xoxo

When I don't wear my hair down, a beehive is so easy to hide my big hair. I love yours, it's so delicate and feminine.

I love the blue and yellow combo- and being the bride to be, you deserve all the attention to show off your ring!
