Dave and I are going to Barcelona on Thursday for a week! It’s my annual birthday trip – we always go away for my actual birthday (which is the 7th of June, fact fans).
I made a little video, nattering about the clothes I’m going to be taking away with me.
I haven’t really filmed this as an ‘advice’ type video, but I just want to point out that colour-coordination is the way to go for packing for trips! Taking things only in a small number of colours (in this case, red, blue and purple) involves enough planning for holiday outfits not to seem completely random, but also gives enough flexibility to change outfits at the last minute, as mood and weather dictates. I never get the approach of laying out entire outfits in advance and packing them on hangers. How do people know what exactly they’ll be doing and what the weather will be?
What is your approach for packing for trips?
I had vaguely planned to do this as a ‘haul’ style video, with me holding things up to the camera. But it’s harder than you might think, because for big things you need to obviously be a quite a distance from the camera, so that they can be fully seen. And it’s a logistical nightmare, having everything close enough to reach without going off camera! Plus, it would have taken forever. So I decided to just show you everything laid out on the floor.
As you can see, I’m using vimeo (thanks for the tip, Diana!), and I’ve also filmed this on the lowest quality setting on my camera. This reduced the upload time to about twenty minutes, but obviously doesn’t look as nice! What do people think?
