Barcelona day one roundup

First of all, thanks to everyone who entered the 500th post giveaway already. Nice to hear from so many of you who had never commented before! Anyway, I promised I would post photos from our Barcelona trip and I’m gonna report back by day, to make it more manageable. So here’s day 1.

Let’s start with the outfit. This was the first and only time I wore my new campers, because despite some walking in, and trial runs with bare feet, they ended up giving me massive blisters, so I was restricted to plasters and my old clarks ones for the rest of the trip. But at least I managed to wear them once!

tshirt – zara
linen trousers/shorts – h&m
shoes – camper
bag – charity shop
necklace and bracelet combo – birthday gift
belt – accessorize
earrings – swap

We spent our first day just walking round getting our bearings.

Casa Battlo, stuck together

casa battlo

This is Casa Battlo, one of the famous houses by Gaudi, near where we were staying.

A snail on a lamp post near Arc de Triomf.

Mercat Santa Caterina

Mercat Santa Caterina, designed by Enric Miralles of Scottish Parliament fame/infamy

An owl on a building near our apartment. I wonder why it is there? It’s not advertising as far as I could see!

All children love kebabs. Really?

Random sign saying ‘All children love kebabs’. In German. Very, very strange.

silk umbrella house on La Rambla

A house decorated with umbrellas on La Rambla.

The shutter of a closed shop. Most shutters in the city are painted in some way, and if not, they’re full of graffiti.

mural in the Raval

The mural I’m standing in front of for my outfit photo, in the Raval area where we went out at night.

    Franca your colors are gorgeous!
I was about to compliment your shoes, as the blue hue is perfect- too bad they are uncomfortable.
Just last week I picked out shoes that were ill fitting even after years of living in my closet…. and I already chose another pair this weekend that must find a better home, or actually just other feet to torture!
