Outfit 19.7.10: near perfect dress

19 July 2010: near perfect dress

new watch

old bag

handknit felted brooch

I flipping love this dress! it’s just a cheapie one from h&m, I think it was £7 in the sale, but it’s so versatile, you can do anything with it. It’s one of the few things I own that is shorter than knee length, which could be a bit uncomfortable given my ginormous thighs, but for some reason it fine. and it has pockets!

I might see if I can get Dave to replicate it for me in a different colour. Though that must be pretty difficult I would have thought, so maybe not.

Also, look at my new watch! It was my birthday present from my mum. I’m so glad to be wearing a big chunky thing again after months with a delicate silver one when my old massive one died. It has dials for date, 24 hour clock and day of the week. Although why you would ever not know whether it’s morning or afternoon I do know!

The bag is my mum’s old handbag. She now carries a leather rucksack, but there’s nowt wrong with this at all (well, one of the straps has a tear in it, but the leather is nowhere near tearing yet). She didn’t let me take it away with me, which is probably a good thing because my bag drawer is full!

dress – h&m
bag – my mum’s
shoes – clarks
brooch – I made it
watch – esprit

Cute! While I do like the dress, I'm in love with the watch and the bag!

The dress and brooch are so cute, but I think the outfit really comes together with the touches of brown leather from the bag and watch!

Everything about this outfit is fab! Especially adore the bag and watch – your mum has great taste.

Isn't it great how sometimes a very cheap dress can look amazing. You look great in this dress. The brooch, the watch, and especially that beautiful bag. I've been lusting after perfectly worn, brown leather bags for a while now.
Also, I'm giggling at your cute Britishims. I learned what "nowt" meant from Karl Pilkington.

Love the photos, love the dress, watch, brooch and bag. All quite simple styles but look great. I definitely prefer chunky watches.

    1) The dress IS great. I love those ones that are basic, not boring, and you can style in so many different ways.
    2) That is an awesome watch! I need to get me one.
    3)I really love that purse.

I love the quality of these photos — the colors are stunning.
You did a great job styling this outfit, and I love your watch.

I am so jealous of your satchel!

aw, hell, my chunky watch needs a new battery (it stopped in the middle of the nite while we were camping) and the strap is fallin' apart….

that dress has pretty simple lines, so its shouldn't be hard to dupe at all. just be sure to do a 'trial run' or muslin first to nail the fit (use an old sheet). hooray for perfect dresses!

I love everything! Your dress certainly is nearly perfect. It fits you so well! Your watch picture reminds me of Alice in Wonderland – the perspective makes it seem like you are growing! And your bag is just perfection. It's exactly what I'd want in a leather satchel.
