There’s treasure everywhere!

Remember when you were little and really random things were treasure, like twigs and pebbles? Well, I found one of my ‘treasure boxes’ while rummaging around at home, and I thought I’d document it before the colours fade completely and it gets even more scratched.

It’s a cigarette box and it contains:
* 1 picture of two girls in the sunrise – I’m assuming it was meant to be my sister and I
* 1 matchstick dipped in wax repeatedly
* 4 dried flowers
* 1 plastic key
* 1 piece of paper with the alphabet written out, to be used for writing things in substitution code. The thing written on the back tells you how to work the code, Remmi ned nethcean Ebatshcub – Immer den naechsten Buchstabe(n) – Always the next letter. Hehe!

Do you remember any ‘treasure’ from your childhood?

    I love the way your drawing uses really bright colours – must be a deeply ingrained personality trait!

    Aww, I have a box just like this! It's wooden and carved into the shape of a whale by my Grandad, it's got a medal I won for playing guitar and a fish with hooks attached for fishing (there's probably a proper name for that) that I found whilst punting in Oxford with some family friends when I was a kid. It's got other random bits that I can't recall now, it's still at home with my folks. I'm planning on arranging them into a display box at some point in the future when I have my own house 🙂

    But my box wasn't as pretty, its plastic with lots of different compartments filled with things like beads I used to steal off my sister.

    What a suitable treasure box for the present period of your life! And such lovely treasures!

    I'm a 'keeper' as well but for some reason my childhood treasures can no longer be found. I'll have to present my 'adulthood treasure box' one day…

    Lovely pics!

    Oooh, what a great treasure box! I love your swirly inky childhood writing. I too was obsessed with codes and secret messages when I was young and had ambitions to grow up and be a spy! The only treasure I've kept is my old journals, but I am hoping to do something with them soon.

    awww! I bet finding it brought back a flood of memories.

    I know I had these little treasure boxes when I was younger but I don't think any are still around!

    How very cute France.
    I have little boxes with pictures of our pets and hair from them. Kind of sounds creepy now that I write it down.
    I use to cry my heart out every time I opened them.
    In a way, we are always children.
