Outfit 28.8.10: pin curls!

pin curls!

pin curls!

After weeks and weeks and probably months of planning to do this, I finally got round to trying out pin curls at the end of last month. It was meant to be for a dinner party, but ended up being just drink in the end.

I’ve been rolling the hair on the top of my head up quite a bit recently, and I always ended up getting one pin curl like wave when I took it apart at the end of the day, so I had some inkling it was gonna work but generally me and curls are not a great combination – they always go flat within 10 minutes. So when I tried the pin curls I took no chances and put in loads of curling cream to hold them in place and I left the pins in all day to make sure everything was really really dry. Here I am with my headscarf:

pre-pin curls

And it worked! They did collapse a bit after an hour or so, but were still recognisable as curls when I got home after my night out. I’m not sure I’ll make a regular feature out of this because with my thin hair I do need a whole day for them to dry, and wandering about with a headscarf is a bit odd, but for a special occassion, definitely!

Have you ever tried pin curls?

Your dress and curls look so lovely Franka! 🙂

Oh I know what an effort it is to make stubborn hair curly, I'm always too lazy to do it because I know my curls disappear after an hour or so 🙂

LOVE the curls, Franca! And from your big smile, I'm thinking you do, too!

They look great! I admire you for having the patience to do them, especially considering you spent all day setting them in the first place. It was worth it, though.

Your hair looks so pretty and that dress is gorgeous.
I have tried the pin curls, like you they do not last look.
But, IF I do want them to last a bit longer I put mousse in my damp hair, pin it up and go to bed…. the next day it's fun to see all the curls.

    Oh I missed this!

    Looks darling!

I generally do them Saturday morning, and take them out Saturday night before going on… OR, if I'm staying in, I'd sleep on them too. The max you can leave them in means MAXIMUM fantasticness!
