Outfits 19 and 20.10.10: re-worn skirts

new camper boots

A couple of outfits today. There’s a theme to this too: both of these weren’t planned outfits, but were built around having to re-wear those skirts.

I don’t know how most people handle this situation where you’ve worn a garnment, but it’s not dirty enough to need washed? I never want to just put it back into the wardrobe next to properly clean things. We have a bin where we stick such clothes in, but it’s not an ideal set up. Sometimes stuff languishes at the bottom of this bin for months, and I forget that it’s even there, while at other times, the bin just can’t handle the volume of semi-clean clothing. This was one such time and those skirts both needed worn and dirtified so that they could go in the washing machine and back in the wardrobe.

So here are my attempts at two off the cuff quick outfits built around the two skirts.

Outfit 1:
vintage scarf – swap
top – h&m
skirt – people tree
gloves – me, orangesandapples etsy
shoes – clarks

Outfit 2:
top – charity shop
skirt – h&m
boots – camper (they’re getting there with the wearing in, in case you’re wondering)

    awesome boots!

I always wash things after one wear, usually I've spilled something on it or sweated in it. I will rewear cardigans however if none of the above happened haha.

I also like to give things like skirts a couple of wears before washing (unless I've had a spillage of course), so I put things on a shelf next to my wardrobe. I call it the holding area, as it's a limbo between my wardrobe and washing basket. I try to fold things so it doesn't get too messy, but it doesn't always work!

That blue skirt is just so amazng – looking great in both ensembles 🙂

We live in a tiny little shoebox so the "worn once, wear again" clothes hang on the curtain rail. Not acceptable in summer (bleach time!) but in winter when there is no such thing as sunshine it works just fine 🙂

I used to have several doors in my old bedroom (the bedroom door, the closet door, and the bathroom door). I hung hooks over them and hung semi-clean clothing on those.

Now that I've moved and I don't have anywhere to put those sort of hooks, I'm having a rough time of it. Usually I hang it up to air out, then put it back in my closet and vow to wear it again soon so it can go through the wash. Sometimes I also put a small pile on my vanity stool. I move it to the bed when I need the stool, then put it back on the stool when I'm done.

    Not the greatest system.

Great outfits, I especially like the upper one with this awesome skirt and gorgeous scarf!

Ha I do the same with clothes that I've worn only once! They're not clean enough for the closet and not dirty enough for the laundry, so I put them on a clothes rack.
Good to know I'm not the only one who does that 🙂

I love them both. You are wearing skirt, my favourite item of clothing in the whole world.
I love the blue one with the touch of red. And the grey one, a must, with that wonderful blouse.
    Magic!!!

Both of those skirts are really beautiful. I like how you matched the grey flared skirt with the flat boots. Also, the scarf and the blue skirt go so well together.
I usually wear my clothes a lot before I wash them. I have to lug our dirty clothes to a laundromat about 1 block and half away, so I am choosy about what I decide to wash.

oo, that's a nice, nice blue….i'm like Kelly, i air things out by hanging them on the trim above the closet door overnite. then they go back in the closet. but it's not humid around here, and the closet gets a lot of air circulation, so i think that makes the system workable.

washing things before they need it makes them wear out so much quicker, i find….i also avoid putting any of my clothes through the dryer for the same reason (i air dry). steph

Love the scarf and the floral shirt and the boots. Some lovely outfits.

I love the boots and the top in your second outfit especially!

I just hang my stuff right back up on the closet because I only wash most of my clothing after 3-6 wears.
