I’m slowly catching up with my stored up outfits! This is what I wore for NYE, to go to our friend’s house just outside Edinburgh. We were going out onto the beach for the fireworks, so my outfit needed to be warm and suitable for mud as well as nice of course! So I wore a variation of what I had worn several times before. That blouse just makes such an impact on its own, you don’t need anything else.
blouse – people tree
jeans – charity shop
boots – esprit
belt – from a skirt
necklace – used to be Dave’s granny’s
hat – gift
Though I did wear this hat of course! It was dave’s Christmas present for me, we chose it together. It’s from a local hat makers shop, fabhatrix. I love it. I have found the mass produced bucket hats you can get in shops to be far too big for my head, so this handmade, unique thing is just perfect for my small head.It was pricey, but I reckon I’ve got it down to about £3 a wear already (my aim is £1 a wear or less).
It has got a mixed reception. Lots of people have told me they like it, but one of my ex colleagues, not the most tactful at the best of times, said ‘oh! comedy hat!’ when he saw it lying on my desk, and my old boss keeps telling me I look like Mary Poppins! Which is clearly wrong because these are the two hats she wears in the film, neither of which are anything remotely similar:
I think its more Paddington Bear myself, but obviously a much more glamorous version!
Either way, I’m happy!
