Outfit 19.1.11: Stripedy stripes in red

by Franca on 25 January 2011

stripey stripes and lots of red

brooch and necklace detail

earrings

new campers

I am dispensing with outfit chronology today, because two of the girls from the Friend Friday group, Liz of 26 and counting and Linda of the auspicious life, have started a new website, Everybody, Everywear, which collects together outfits on a theme, and that week the theme was breton stripes. And since I randomly happened to be wearing stripes anyway without knowing about it… I realise this top isn’t actually breton stripes, but hey, close enough, so I thought I may as well take part. The idea of the website is to be a sort of digital scrapbook where anyone at a loss how to style a certain item can find inspiration on how to style it. The theme each week will be something that a lot of people will have in their wardrobe already anyway, like breton stripes (which I don’t have) or a black blazer (which I don’t have either, not doing so well!). I’ll try and participate whenever I have that thing.

stripy top – charity shop
top under – h&m
skirt – handmedown from dave’s mum, shortened and dyed red by me
shoes – camper
brooch – my friend emily’s shop, originally from cuppateaandcake.co.uk
earrings – gift
necklace – from when I was wee!

I like the spin you put on the outfit! You've inspired me to try the next challenge because originally I thought, "I don't have any Breton stripes! Just regular stripes! I can't so this!" I'll know for next time that I can :)

oh thanks! you remind me that i was planning on including a photo of the
shoes!

I do like some good layering. It's very practical too, because it gets so
cold here in scotland, and I don't have a seprate winter wardrobe.

Oh now i feel bad! I didn't even notice! AND I ironed that skirt that moring
as well! still though, like you say, nothing wrong with a bit of
naturalness!

Lovely – I'm a big fan of anything red and white … so a stripey version is wonderful!
I adore your shoes too!! :D

Looks like we had similar thoughts today– no real Breton stripes, opt for red instead. Love your layering here- unexpected but lovely.

I love the neckline on your striped tee and I'm very glad you included yourself. At last count, there were 69 different stylings of stripes!

tha tproject looks interesting – thanks for sharing about it.

also, glad to see someone else who gets those 'sit wrinkles' and shows them off – i love linen, cotton, silk and the way they wrinkle, frankly that's part of the point!

hee hee, on this outfit they even continue the stripes……take care, steph

Thank you! I love my name necklace, it's totally worn, but that's because
it's so old! Just makes it extra special!

Rad January 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

I like how even your Breton stripes top is so colorful. Your name necklace is the cutest.

oranges_and_apples January 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

Thank you, and thanks for creating the site! I'm looking forward to adding a
pop of colour often in the future!

BetweenLaundryDays January 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

I love the idea for their new project! I can't wait to see it develop, and I'll definitely take part. I love the monochromatic stripes here!

oranges_and_apples January 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

Yay, thank you! x

Linda January 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

Thanks for putting your usual schedule on hold for us! You brought the pop of color the site needed (and the color I've come to expect from you!).
And, we don't care if the stripes are truly Breton. You rocked your stripes and that's all that mattered!
