What do you guys think of the break in the posts, i.e. where you have to click on ‘Read More’? I started using them because that way more of the posts are visible on the front page, rather than just a couple (you know how I can’t keep things brief), which might be nice for first time visitors, to get a wider view of the sort of things i post about. On the other hand, you end up having to click through, which might be annoying?

And for those of you reading in readers, it doesn’t make any difference, does it? because i really don’t want to force people to click through out of their reader – I hate it when people truncate their feeds, I usually end up unsubscribing from their blog!

Let me know, let me know!

I personally prefer just scrolling over having to click for the whole post, but it doesn't make a difference in google reader at all – in fact I hadn't noticed 🙂

I always see this recommended as a way to improve your blog – put in a jump – I started off doing this but actually got requested by a reader to remove it as they hated having to click through to see the whole post – so there you go. Can't please everyone but I've left them off mine as a result.

I honestly don't mind click-through posts, once I'm on the blog page, but I'm definitely in the camp of not having that be the case in a reader. I'm likely to not ever click through if I can't see the whole post in my reader.

I prefer not clicking too much but then again we all do if we insert a lot of links! Anyway, I wouldn't dream of unsubscribing from your blog, though, because it's really really great! A minor technical change will not keep me away!

i use reader and unless i don't know about a setting to change i hate posts here i have to open the blog to finish reading them. I do it when i like the blog but its still annoying – and depending on time constraints i may or may not open the page. So I'm not a fan of click through – i get it, just don't like it either when i surf blogs or use reader.

I read in Google Reader so it doesn't make a difference to me…except when I click through to comment.

I personally wouldn't do it because I'd rather be able to read the entire post in one scroll instead of having to click through. But that's just me. 🙂

I read in Google reader as well. It doesn't really disrupt my reading, and I think it makes sense for very long, picture heavy posts, but less so for average length every day posts.
I get what you say about truncating feeds.

Right, that's made up my mind, I'm removing the jumps. Thanks for your input guys!

I put breaks in my posts, so I'm all for it. And, no, you don't have to click out of your reader unless the blogger selects that option. Hope this helps a little!

I agree with this, too! I haven't noticed a difference in Google Reader though, Franca.

I use Bloglovin so I get the whole post anyway. I don't use breaks on my blog, so I am afraid I can't offer any advice.

Totally agree, truncating posts in the reader is a sure fire way to get me
    to unsubscribe!

I prefer click throughs for image heavy posts, because I might not have fast internet and it's a pain to load up lots of images.
