4.2.11: green and blue and mainly thrifted

blazer embroidery detail

First of all, THANK YOU so much everyone that commented on yesterday’s feminism post. You guys are so thoughtful and clever and lovely! I am going to be slowly working my way through providing individual replies, I want to do them justice! I was seriously worried about posting something so unrelated to the usual content of this blog, but the response has been awesome. Thank you again!

Anyhoo, the theme for Everybody, Everywear this week was the blazer. It was an easy decision for me, because I only own two blazers, this one and one that is part of my only suit, which comes out only for interviews and to meet (government) ministers. The latter I associate with feeling nervous and apprehensive (I hate interviews where I am the interviewee), so this stripy one it was!

I chose to wear the blue with green, since it was a Friday and I have a reputation for brightness to uphold. And those people saying that blue and green should never be seen together? Well, they’re wrong!

Also, Dave thinks this skirt is ‘one of my frumpy ones’, and I can sort of see what he’s getting at, the shape and length and material are just a bit matronly, so I wanted to rescue it with the addition of brightness. I don’t think anyone would describe this outfit as frumpy, would they?

Everything from charity shops except hush puppies shoes and gifted necklace.

Certainly not frumpy. Business suit on brightly colored acid, perhaps. I love your flair with brights– absolutely inspirational.

Not frumpy!
Can we talk about how fun that blazer is? I'm glad you showed that one off and not the one that you associate with nerves. You are always so bold in your color choices and it always pays off!

I don't think that your skirt looks frumpy at all – it is just quit work-wearish that's all! I love the very vivid blue of it and your blazer is a really nice touch too.

Blue & green together I remember reading somewhere, long ago (like in high school) were the colors of self awareness. I don't know if it's true, but those particular of green and blue look like spring to me, and happy-go-lucky. I love that skirt, frumpy or not, a classic pencil in electric blue- how easy to love this? Your two blazers being so different is interesting. Two different sides of yourself, and this one is fun, fun, fun. I don't feel the least bit nervous looking at its cuteness. But I do hope your next time thrifting you pick up one or two more blazers, the kind that you sling on to go to the market, or meet friends at a cafe.

At this angle, you look chic and retro in that skirt. I don't think you look frumpy at all. The colors in this outfit are great.
Sometimes, my fella thinks certain pieces are "frumpy" that I don't agree with, but he prefers clothes that are body conscious in general.

Blue and green has always been a favorite combination of mine. I let out a loud ''ooooh'' when I saw this outfit, hehe. I love the shades you chose to wear. They work so well together, so ''pssh'' to whoever says blue & green is a no-no ;)

okay, first of all, i LOVE the colors here. so bright and cheery but not, like, juvenile and obnoxious. secondly, your skirt is awesome…i think it would be even awesomer if you shortened it just, like, an inch or two. seriously, it might make all the world of difference (for your husband, if nothing else!). anyway. just an idea. and thirdly: love this whole blazer-catalyzed ensemble.

This outfit is definitely not frumpy, even with a longer skirt. In fact, I think it's quite sexy and flattering in how it fits your curves. Toss on some heels and you're a 60's hottie (albeit in an unusual color).

We're next to each other on the EBEW site right now. This makes me feel quite pleased with my excellent position! :)

This combination is very pretty on you.
These colors look amazing together, it's like the green grass and the blue sky, there is something so very real about it… however for some reason I never put them together…

It is indeed wool. dry clean only, which is a bit of a pain, but I've
handwashed it a few times and it doesn't seem to have done it any harm.

And i'm telling you, bright tights are a cheap investment!
