Spring 2011 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge roundup

roundup part 1 copy

roundup part 2 copy

roundup part 3 copy

So, here were are, all my 12 outfits from the Capsule Wardrobe Challenge in one place. Very inexpertly cut out, with bits missing! Sorry about that, it’s hard to do and in the end I didn’t think it was worth the effort to get it right. You can see what I was aiming for anyway!

Anyway, what are your fave outfits? I like 7 and 10 best myself.

I am really pleased with this collection of outfits, the box of crayons colour scheme worked well! The only black/white thing was the boots and in retrospect some brown ones would have worked better anyway. All power to colours! I’m telling you, a capsule wardrobe based around bright colours is exciting and totally doable!

I did have at least two more outfits planned but in the end, the daily picture taking and editing was getting to me and I couldn’t be bothered. Right now I feel like wearing black trousers and plain jumpers or shirts, and not thinking about clothes. Mini blogger burnout! Hopefully I’ll be back to form soon!

And in this vein, a couple of apologies for other things.

Today’s Friend Friday is blog awards, with things like ‘most creative’, ‘best beauty blogger’ and suchlike. I did start doing this, but never got very far. There are so many amazing bloggers, all different in their own way, and to pick anyone that is the best just doesn’t seem possible. Even where I had sort of picked someone, I was stressing out about whether my choice was actually, truly, the best. And I dislike this drive to be the best anyway, I’m into ambition, not competition. I know its just a bit of fun, and I shouldn’t worry about it too much, but coupled with feeling ill and not having huge amounts of time, I decided to just not do it.

The other thing is that today is British Heart Foundation’s national wear red day. I really really meant to do it, but I’m burnt out with the daily outfit pictures from the challenge, so I’ve got nothing except the outfits with red in them for the roundup. So, just a written reminder to get yourself over there and find out more. And consider donating!

Happy Friday all! I am SO glad its the weekend!

What a gorgeous selection – I simply adore look no 8 – where did you find those tights? I've been on the hunt for ones that colour on the interweb!
Clever remixing of that lovely dress in look 10 too!

  • Pull Your Socks Up! 25 February 2011, 10:32 am

Thanks for going to all that trouble, it must have taken ages to assemble those pics. I like the same 7 and 10, but I love 8 too (hadn't realised it was a dress – fab!). I adore that green scarf and I love the red dress you chose for the challenge. You've done amazingly well sweetie – your beautiful outfits never fail to make me smile and feel happy:). Hope you'll feel well soon. xoxoxoxooxxo

  • Melissa 25 February 2011, 12:10 pm

I love all of these! You did a fantastic job!

I decided not to do this week's Friend Friday post for the same reason – it just seems like too much competition. I know so many bloggers are excited about it, getting to give shout outs to their favorites and recognize people's blogs and hard work, but it really does seem like a competition to me, so I'm not doing this week.

<3 I felt the same way, Franca. I don't like awards much. I think we are all the best at being who we are and that's good enough for me.

I love the graphics you did for this. I think they look really amazing!

  • oranges_and_apples 26 February 2011, 11:15 am

thank you! I had this great idea of what it was going to look like, so I
can't help be a little disappointed at the jaggedy edges, but I do like it
better than if I had just stuck all the images together!

and I totally agre 'I think we are all the best at being who we are and
    that's good enough for me.'

  • fuyume 26 February 2011, 11:33 am

8 is my fave it has a distict 60s feel about it 🙂 and it seems alot of ppl didn't participate in the blog awards for the reasons you gave so your not alone xx

  • Terri 27 February 2011, 1:21 am

Franca–I have mentioned you in my post for this Sunday, because of the red dress your post here caused me to buy. It was a wrinkled mess in the thrift where I found it, but I wouldn't even have taken on a chance on it if I hadn't seen you in this one so recently. So, thank you!

  • MrsBossa 27 February 2011, 6:20 pm

I love number 5 – and yes, my outfit really was an outfit homage to you! Fantastic job on the capsule wardrobe – kudos to you for taking the colour route. xx

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:23 pm

everything is slowly going back to normal?

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:23 pm

Thanks! the making the outfits wasn't the problem, just the picture taking!

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:23 pm

thank you! I don't think I have any tips other than be adventurous and do
    what you fancy!

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:23 pm

8 seems to be the most popular one! I am really glad others felt the same. I
was worried i was a bit of a party pooper to start off with.

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:24 pm

    thanks stef!

  • oranges_and_apples 27 February 2011, 6:24 pm
