From a couple of friday’s ago. I had taken the day off to do my economics assignment, so I really got dressed up for no apparent reason. I just fancied a bit of a break! And I didn’t finish the assignment either, though I have now.

I wore this cape, which I thrifted a good three years ago because I dreamt about finding an amazing tweed cape in a shop (dreamt as in while I was asleep, not dreamt as in hope). This one’s not tweed, and a bit weird, which is why it doesn’t come out often. It’s a sort of fleecey picnic blanket material, which is very warm, but it’s short and not done up in a very sophisticated way (it’s just the belt, and a couple of holes to thread it through), so lots of air gets in underneath. So the weather conditions under which it makes sense are extremely limited. It looks nice though!

The rest of the outfit was built around my shiny new United Nude shoes. It’s really not easy to find outfits that go with them – they demand eighties bodycon dresses of which I have precicely none (and never will have, unless I magically drop three dress sizes). This worked ok I thought, but I’m not exactly full of ideas for other options with what is in my wardrobe!

Also note the different photo locations. I ended up wandering about for ages, but all my usual spots were either full of people or the sun was too bright, so in the end I had to retreat to the garden. I hadn’t really wanted to do that because it had been raining and I didn’t want to get the lovely new shoes muddy. At least the shoes easily cleanable!

I can see that the cape is very pretty but impractical. The rest of your outfit is color magic as usually. And that banana guy brooch is very cool!

I love your layering, that fab cape, bangles and those fabulous shoes:
    Magnificent, Franca.

I absolutely adore how you accessorize. Love the shoes and dying for the cape. Anthro had one not too dissimilar that I'm still kicking myself for failing to buy.

Oh my! That cape is adorable! I also dig the whole ombre created by the shoes and the tights. I wish I were half as good at wearing color as you are!

Oh, Franca, I love this. I am a cape fanatic and this one is superb! I also love the tights, the shoes, the bangles (especially the beetle bangle which is what I'm totally calling my made-up new band). Love it.

I love that cape! And these are especially fab photos. Something about the colour of the cape and your shoes and the wall and double yellow line behind you is very pleasing visually altogether.

Franca, You are a work of art. There's so much detail here, so much to look at, so much to covet!! The shoes remind me of waves, surf breaking on the beach and I much prefer your way of styling them, or anything you wear for that matter!! The cardi is so, so beautiful and the brooch, the bangles – Ga!!!! The cape = perfection.x

That's one sweet cape Franca and I love how you put together all those colors. I admire colors, but don't often wear them all together like you have. : D

I remember seeing those lovely shoes on your blog, I really like them. They are so colorful and funky! That cape is going on my next fall list since it's been pretty hot here lately. Your accessories for this look are fantastic especially that bug bangle and banana man brooch.

I like the cape, but your point about its limited applications is easy to see. The shoes are wonderful too. My favorite piece is that gorgeous beetle bangle!
