Charity shop finds

charity shop finds

Long term readers may remember I used to do a series called charity shop finds when I used to go thrifting all the time. I eventually stopped when my wardrobe got very full and I realised more clothes were not a good idea, even cheap ones for charity, so my visits to charity shops were few and far between. But I did get a few things in the last couple of weeks, so I thought I’d briefly resurrect charity shop finds from the dead.

Here’s what I got. Sorry pictures are the faded retro look – I went for pretty over accurate colours. You’ll see the things in action soon enough, I hope!

* a floral dress/tunic thing, originally from Oasis. There’s a couple of buttons missing near the bottom, but I reckon I can find some matching ones or replace them all.
* a beaded bangle and a wee vase, both bright yellow – may favourite colour.
* A polka dot skirt, originally from H&M. I’ve worn it quite a few times already, and have a special themed post coming up!
* a navy pussy bow blouse, originally jcrew. this is the first time I’ve ever seen a jcrew item in a charity shop (jcrew don’t deliver to the UK). It’s a lovely item, a silk cotton mix (a little see through, but that’s ok, I wear vests under everything anyway), but it’s vanity sizing in action! I am usually/almost always a UK size 12 round the top. This is a UK8/US4 and it fits me perfectly. Seriously.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Some great finds. I love the floral dress. I have reached the same point in my wardrobe being packed with all my charity shop finds

Those are some fun finds!  Vanity sizing can get crazy. I have a size 2 shirt and I am normally a 6 or 8 for shirts. Makes me with they would use measurements instead of whatever number they feel like.
I should probably slow down a little with the thrift store shopping, but not quite yet

Your new header is lovely by the way.

It all looks pretty cool, and I for my part enjoy the faded retro look 🙂

Some awesome finds, particularly that polka dot skirt. I get so annoyed at vanity sizing though, it is one of my pet peeves! I'm definitely a 12 or 14 for trousers, but for some reason my jeans in a 12 are massive! Grrr….

I didn't see your original Charity Shop Finds series but I really hope you do some more posts like this!

Well done! My black and white polka dot skirt has quickly become one of my favorite pieces.

Thanks, i will try to do them occassionally, although i'm still out of
wardrobe space, so it can't be very often!

Oh, I like the bangle…among other things.  And, yes, I'm beginning to realize that I need to slow down on the thrifting myself.

Always enjoy seeing a charity shop related post – I think there are so many people who believe charity shopping to be unseemly but it's where the majority of my clothes from and I'm proud of it – spending less money and finding unique and occasionally designer pieces seems like a good way to go! Interesting that you found a J-Crew item considering it's an American brand. Just to let you know my Kirsty Baynham print arrived yesterday Franca – it is lovely, thank you so much! Can't wait to get up hanging on my wall, will post a pic for you to see when I do! Have a lovely weekend xx

These are all amazing finds… I can see them working together in one outfit — somehow!

I have that polka dot skirt! It's my favourite skirt, I even did a post on it here: http://afeitar.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-favourite-skirt.html I've worn it so so much. I got it in the sale for £7 a good few years ago. I'd give anything to find a new one on eBay or in a charity shop!
