On friday we were at a wedding reception in the Yorkshire dales (not the Lake District as I had somehow got into my head and proceeded to tell everyone). It was really lovely and sunny, a perfect day for it! The reception was in a country hotel, which looked amazing, there was a ceilidh and fireworks!
The dress I wore is the one I bought on a whim from Penny Dreadful Vintage and was considering as my reception dress – I posted about that before. It’s from the 1940s or 1950s, a very delicate brokade thing, and handmade. When I first got it, it had that old clothes smell about it, so I washed it in the machine. It needed to be done! It ripped a bit around the neckline, and the zip broke, but that’s all fixed now and I won’t need to machine wash again. It’s so beautiful and the pattern is so unusual, the shorter length at the front with the gathered bits at the side (which would have been even more dramatic on a slightly larger person/if the dress was slightly smaller), its very regal, isn’t it!
