Pattern mixing with presents

Three things about this outfit:

* Pattern mixing. Which I always say I can’t do, yet here I am. I hope you’re proud of me!

* Gifts! The ever lovely Bella Q of the Citizen Rosebud sent me a parcel for my birthday that included, among other things, this cute marble ring and this vintage scarf! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! More outfits with the other items coming up soon no doubt.

* Dress your best. For this outfit, I dressed to flatter my waist. Like many hourglass/pearshaped hybrid girls, my waist is a thing I like to emphasise. I used to have a proper tiny waist in relation to the rest of my body, but I’ve filled out slightly now (I am 30, you know!) and now my waist is pretty much the size you would expect it to be in relation to my boobs according to most sizing charts. But I still like to think of it as a nipped in bit, and I still like to wear big volume pieces around it but be fitted around the middle. This circle skirt I made the other week in all it’s fabric heavy massiveness does that job beautifully.

I am on a wee holiday now from today until Monday, I will be restricting my online life to what I can do from my phone, so basically email and twitter. Though I may stay off twitter too. I plan to read books a lot. We are staying with Dave’s mama in Leicestser and have a couple of nights in London to see (1) Arcade Fire (2) PULP!!!!!!!! I am SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

Have a good week and weekend!

I love the mixture of patterns it works really well on you. I've tried it myself and have to be really careful because I end up looking like a bag lady.
    The ring is lovely too.

That marble ring is dreamy! Had a quick look through your blog, I find your bold, colourful outfits inspiring…I've always been quite matchy-matchy myself which is something I'm trying to change as I always love seeing people wearing lots of different colours and patterns x
