So… I finally bought the dress for our wedding reception. I don’t know if I talked about this much before, I decided a while ago that since I hadn’t come accross anything suitable vintage, I would get a Vivien of Holloway dress. But I was changing my mind every 5 minutes about what kind, plus their sizing is pretty erratic, so we went to the shop when we were down in London for Pulp. It still took me ages and ages to decide, and I very nearly bought two dresses (the other one was red gingham). But that would have just delayed the decision longer, so in the end I made myself choose.
Do you like it? I do! It’s non-weddingy enough to wear again afterwards, but it’s still ‘special occassion’. And it’s sort of white and will look fab with my red crinoline!
So now I’ve finally got my dress I can start looking for things to wear with it! Whee!
I was originally going to get a hat by etsy seller Mi Amore Hats. I love her stuff and she actually has one with cherries on, see? But then I’m already wearing a hat at the actual wedding and I’m having my hair put up by a hairdresser for the recption, so it seems a waste to cover it up.
So I decided to go with hairpins instead. The two ones above I really like. The flowery ones are probably more sensible, but I do really like the Kanzashi flower ones, though they won’t go with the dress very well, will they?
Oh, and shoes. I actually have my shoes already (the top ones from Clarks, which I’ve had for years and love), but the bottom Vivienne Westwood/Melissa ones would be ace too, wouldn’t they? Thankfully I can’t be tempted too much because (1) They are too high for me and (2) Dave thinks they are massively horrible.
And finally, just some cute but not wedding appropriate cherry themed bits and bobs I found while searching: a Tattoo necklace; a Anna Dello Russo style fascinator; a plastic brooch and a glitter fascinator.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions/recommendations on how I should style the dress, please jump in and tell me!
