I have a new dress…

… and it’s quite short! The dress is from People Tree, via my biannual sale order. I almost sent it back (I was having to send a couple of things back anyway) but Dave persuaded me to keep it. And he’s not usually a fan of skimpiness so I trust that it’s actually alright, and not a ploy for him to see more of my legs. As with so many body related hang ups, the world did not end because people were able to see my ginorous thighs and bobbly knees and I didn’t actually feel self conscious at all when I wore it out. Though I am probably going to wear it with trousers or at least proper leggings in future.

And it has pockets!

Dave's got good taste- in dresses and wives! I love the dress on you!

That dress is so you – I am glad you kept it.

That's a very pretty dress, and yay for the fact that it has pockets! I know how you feel about short hemlines, I also get scared by them and only wear them with tights underneath. It's something we ought to fight, though, because the cultural conditioning behind it is *eeevil* 🙂 ! Same about your thighs & knees, they look entirely fine!

I can't believe you almost sent this dress back, it's so you with all those gorgeous colours! Also, hurrah for pockets, more dresses should have pockets. I love how you've accessorised the outfit with a green door :). Do you just have a rainbow of coloured doors to take pictures in front of? I am very jealous. x

Not a bobbly knee in sight – only a fantastic girl and dress.

The dress is super cute, I'm glad you kept it! Re: hem lengths – I was shocked last weekend when I decided to wear a shorter dress one day after having worn only well-below-the-knees ones for quite some time now. I had gotten so used to longer hems that I felt I was practically naked. Luckily it didn't take me too long to get used to short. After a few hours I felt fine. 🙂

Oh, honey, you don't know from giant thighs! 😉  Truly, though, the dress is a great fit.  It's not skimpy, it just has a higher hem which works with the tights and cardi.  I think you look fab!

This must be the dress you mentioned on my blog post. I think it looks great on you. Love the colors against the black. White shoes are a nice touch too.

Oh it's a lovely dress – the neckline is fabulous and the length very cute! xx

The title of this post should be edited to read: "I have a new dress…. and it's fabulous" I LOVE it! The basic black looks so cute with that whimsical, rainbow-ish detail at the neckline. I think you look great in it!

I always feel the same in short dresses but its lovely and modest enough everywhere else so a bit of leg won't hurt 🙂

what a fun collar and hemline – and i love your matching earrings!

  • veronicadarling 6 August 2011, 4:52 am

Superb Franca! I'm SO pleased you didn't send it back, as it really is super flattering! How wonderful that it has so much black but such electric "Franca" colours! xoxo

I do love the dress – Dave was right to persuade you to keep it!  With black tights it looks perfect!  x

I like this dress very much! The colors are especially great. I feel the same way about my thighs and knees (they are also of the bobbly variety). Slightly shorter dresses can prove disappointing because of this, but you certainly have no need to worry with this one! It looks really good on you 🙂

I really like the neckline detail.
