Soooo, the wedding!
We got married on a Friday, which thankfully turned out to be a lovely day weather wise. There had been a few drops of rain in the morning, but then the sun came out and it was beautiful! The ceremony was in the Registry Office on the Royal Mile right in the centre of the old town in front of just 25 family and close friends. I was so nervous, but the registrar was lovely and put me at ease, and it just flew by. We actually had no idea before the ceremony who was going to conduct the ceremony, so we were really pleased.
One thing that was really weird about getting married on the Royal Mile: SO many tourists took our photo! One guy basically bumped himself into a conversation I was in while waiting in the square in front of the registry office to take my picture and then just walked off. Not acceptable! I don’t mind if you ask first, or at least say thank you or congratulations or something afterwards, but just because people are dressed up on the Royal Mile does not mean they are public property! Anyway, rant over.
Then we had a meal in the fantastic Water of Leith bistro and drinks in just a random pub. We went home at 10.30 in all our finery on the bus! It was so nice and relaxed and we had a fantastic time. And of course we did have a larger party the following day!
We also had a bit of time between group photos and the meal, and after the meal wandering around Edinburgh having out pictures taken. I’ll post those on Thursday, tomorrow it’s honeymoon pics.
Update: you can see the photoshoot photos from day 1 here.
