In this post, I am briefly turning into one of those bloggers with a photographer husband. I was wearing this for going out, and really wanted a picture, but the weather was awful, so setting up the tripod didn’t sound too appealing. So I asked Dave. I was thinking a quick dash into the street outside, but we actually went to this little park a few minutes away, where the trees sheltered us from the rain a little. Dave’s getting the hang of this putting the person in the centre of the frame lark.

In more outfit related news, this cardigan has changed my life! Or at least my wardrobe. It’s pink and for all my love of all colours I didn’t do pink. I don’t know why, except maybe an unconscious rebellion against all the pink = girly thing, though I don’t mind it on other people at all. I was dithering about this cashmere cardigan, it was £10 in a charity shop, which is a bit steep really given it’s only from M&S originally, but it was in good condition and the ladies in the shop were so nice I got it anyway. That was about three weeks ago, and I’ve worn it about 6 or 7 times since. Having a new colour in my wardrobe has really openened up a whole new range of options for new combinations.

Is there any colours you avoid or used to avoid?

Outfit stats: * dress – I bought it in a pub when a local shop was having a pop-up sale * cardie – charity shop * belt – charity shop *shoes – Clarks * necklace – I got it as a present when I was at school* bag – Dave’s shop, My Cloud Designs *

That's funny, I know what you mean about pink but recently I have been really drawn to it. And that shade certainly suits you as well.

this is a wonderful outfit! i am glad you overcame your pink phobia… this colour looks good on you : ) lovely blog…i`ll be visiting!

Yay for reclaiming pink! It looks great on you and goes really well with the dress and the tights! I had a very conscious problem of equating pink with all the kinds of girly a good feminist wasn't supposed to be (before I understood that one of the central tenets of feminism is abolishing the "supposed-to"s, duh!)… and my pink sweater changed this, too!

I love this outfit! <3 I love pink, but for some reason it doesn't turn up in my wardrobe that often. Colours I used to avoid: grey, yellow, beige. I still have a bit of beige-phobia, mind.

  • oranges_and_apples 25 October 2011, 12:31 pm

Actually, me too with beige! It just really doesnt suit me.

  • oranges_and_apples 25 October 2011, 12:34 pm

It wasnt as conscious as that for me as 'feminists must reject pink' it was more just being contrary and if I'm told I have to like something chances are I'll reject it. But I'm not rejecting it any more!

I love pink and I kinda want to steal that sweater!  So perfect!  And it's fun to have hubbys to take photos every one in a while- I suck at using my tripod and it's kinda fun to feel like you're having a photo shoot!

I think he's got more into it since we had the wedding photoshoots and he's got ideas for different things and he's learnt to use the slr while we were in Italy. I'm not complaining anyway!

I like the jacket, and the pink top looks nice on you.  I don't wear pink often, since it can be hard to find a shade that works with my skin tone.

I love the pink on you. I love pink but only every wear really dark or bright pinks. The pale and pastel shades make me look really washed out.

  • Jessica 25 October 2011, 4:22 pm

I love the pink on you, being a bright shade it still looks very you!
I find pairing pink with colours that are supposed to 'clash' with it, especially bright orange, red, or even yellow, tend to turn it more into "a bright colour" within the outfit, rather than being stand out pink, if that makes any sense. Well done for trying it out, you look great. (Also, cashmere? Hell yes!)

  • Vix 25 October 2011, 4:22 pm

I used to feel the same way about pink when I was blonde, all those comparisons to Barbie and being perceived as a bit dim and frothy. Nowadays I couldn't give a damn. You look beautiful in bright pink, wear it more. x

Yay for getting a photographer for the day! It would really help in rain!
I love how your sweater and tights play off each other and how the belt and shoes keep it all tied together!

it's funny to read you're overcoming your pinkfobia!, because I'm also wearing a lot of pink color  and I was used to overlook it!, but now I'm loving it!
I think I was misunderstanding pink!, pink is funny and love how you wear it with your pretty smile and great style!

  • Grit and Glamour 25 October 2011, 6:42 pm

Glad you're embracing pink…it's universally flattering…beautiful on you! Don't you love when your significant other caves and shoots some photos for you?! That happens like twice a year for me. If only we could brainwash them.

Oooh wie süß du aussiehst! Tolles Kleid, tolle Strumpfhose und tolles Sonnenschein-Lächeln für einen verregneten Tag 🙂

  • fashionforgiants 25 October 2011, 8:21 pm

I avoid pastel pink for the most part – I have one blouse in that color that I pair with bright coral to make it okay.  But, hot pink is definitely a color I love – and it looks gorgeous on you, so I'm glad you've made peace with it!

  • Pennydreadfulvintage 25 October 2011, 9:28 pm

Dave is great behind the camera, you should rope him in more often! I used to avoid pink too, I was worried it was too girly but as long as it is nice and bright I really love it now xx

  • Jeannee 25 October 2011, 9:35 pm

Love the outfit! – love the photographer husband bit, too!!!

I'm a big fan of purple – so much so, that someone once commented that they weren't always sure if/when?! I changed clothes, because they all pretty much look the same 😉  Ha, ha, right!  I realize how true this is, tho, when I'm asked about a specific color – for example:  "Jeannee, don't forget to wear a red shirt on Fridays in support of the troops" — ummm — well – is it okay if I wear a red t-shirt that advertises Five Guys Hamburgers?!!

  • teeny 26 October 2011, 8:08 am

Pink is outrageously gorgeous on you Franca! I can't believe you haven't worn it before. So funny. I really love your shoes against the darker tights and that is one amazing coat!

  • tracy 3 November 2011, 11:00 pm

I love pink and actually have loads of it in my wardrobe! I, too, have a very colorful wardrobe- being into vintage usually means you like color-haha! I also stay away from the light or pastel shades of pink or blue, etc, because they do nothing for me. Bright, deep colors are my thing, and I’m fortunate I can actually wear many colors. The only ones I’m really leery about are yellow and green. I’m asian, and if there’s too much yellow undertones in yellow or green it makes me look jaundiced.

hehe put him to work! You look fabulous 🙂
