I’m still here

1984

So, the blog survived the move, semi-intact. I haven’t done any of the techy stuff yet, my old blog doesn’t redirect here yet, my followers are still stuck in limbo, all my permalinks are broken and the plugin that is supposed to fix that has vanished, I’ve somehow managed to install Thesis wrong which means that it can’t do half the things a properly installed thing can.

I’ve also has some disappointing news at work (nothing serious, I just thought I was going to go to the European Commission in Brussels for a bit, I had the (3!) application forms all written and now I’m not allowed to apply because of budget stuff) and I’m not dealing with blog related techno-breakdown very well. It may also be the fact that I’m trying to learn Macs, WordPress and Thesis all at the same time. Poor Dave has had to listen to me swear all night last night.

But at least the blog still exist and things look alright, and I just really want to get back to posting, because sad as that sounds, I miss getting emails with comments and tweets about my posts that I’ve been getting used to. It feels like I’m dead. So here’s some ramblings from me and a random picture of my sister aged 1 eating paint.

Normal service will resume ASAP, probably next Monday. If I can’t get this sorted out over the weekend, I will stamp my foot and cry like I’m still three years old!

    The new blog looks great.

When I changed my blog over to Wordpress and a new domain, I didn’t bother with the redirects, I just did a post pointing everyone in the right direction. I figured anyone that was really bothered would find me and I think they probably have. I lost my Google traffic for a bit but I seem to be getting it back pretty quick.

I could probably live without the redirect, but getting that permalink thing fixed is really important to me. There’s links to my posts all over the internet (I get very few hits from google searches, but links to me are my biggest source of traffic after direct traffic). Plus, broken links just look a bit unprofessional.

So glad to find you and your new blog, dear Franca. I just bought my domain from Blogger for 10 dollars a year.
How can I follow you here???
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I’m working on getting all the follow options set up, hopefully tonight. Though if you started following me when I already had the domain name, the blog feed should be the same (I hope) so stuff should appear in your reader!
