The Talented Mr Ripley

This film was on TV the other day and it reminded me how great (and sad!) it is. Matt Damon was actually a really good actor pre Bourne Identity (though I do love those films) and romantic comedies featuring animals.

And everyone is so young in it! Jude Law has hair and Phillip Seymour Hoffman almost looks like a boy and not a middle aged man. And of course, the scenery and the clothes are gorgeous! I particularly love Cate Blanchet character’s outfits, sadly I couldn’t find too many photos. The whole film almost made me wish I was a fifies American socialite with nothing better to do than swan about the Mediterranean spending money.

It certainly has enormous visual appeal and the more I watch it, the more sympathetic I become with Damon’s character. I saw a video copy of Good Will Hunting at an oppy the other day and he looks like a boy! I love that film so much, yet I can’t believe it’s been 15 years! xo

I do love this film! it is gorgeous to look at as you said (in terms of eye candy for me, anyway, and the clothes etc.) I’ve yet to read the book (though started once)…

I adore this movie. Visually stunning, great costumes, classic plotting and characters with depth. And yes, everyone looks so gorgeous! The scenes on the yacht … to die. I think Matt Damon is a highly underrated actor.

Yeah, I’ll take the swanning around the Mediterranean! Actually, that’s what I do, but on a somewhat more restricted budget! I keep meaning to watch this film again… I was addicted to it for a while as a teenager!

I had trouble focusing on the story when I watched this years ago…Jude Law’s handsomeness was more than a little distracting.

I haven’t watched that movie in years, but Jude Law sure was pretty back then.
