Look, I made a thing! Quite a big thing too! It’s the Holden Shawlette and the yarn I used is some splurgy handdyed Lang Merino 150 I bought when I visited my sister in Aachen. It ended up bigger than I expected, and I actually ran out of yarn, so it’s missing two rows of garter stitch at the edge. I also really buggered my right hand with all the knitting, and will have to take a good long break until the two things that look like ganglions* but aren’t have disappeared.

Totally worth it though, doesn’t it look pretty?

I started using again ravelry as well, and I changed my name to orangesandapples should any knitters care to find me.

Final random comment: Shawl is called châle in French. New word for me! I just knew écharpe.

* the doctor said they were, but the physio said they weren’t, but something to do with bones and ligaments that are too loose. Since she spent several 20 minute sessions with me, and the doctor gave it a quick glance for about 3 minutes, I’m gonna go with the physio. Either way, when they appear it’s a sign I need to rest my arm and wear my splint.

It turned out so pretty! 🙂 I love the almost scalloped curving effect near the edge, it’s beautiful. I really love the mix of colours too.

It’s really pretty, what gorgeous colours. The pattern is a great match for the yarn, with the plain section allowing the colours to shine, and the lace section working with the colour changes.

Oh this is just too beautiful Franca, it’s such a versatile shawl and oh what glorious colours … I love it but I’m so sorry your arm is in a state and I really hope it gets better very soon. xoxo

It’s beautiful! But eek, sorry to hear about your hand. I on/off have shoulder and arm issues from knitting and sometimes have to take a break. It’s hard when you want to work on something and your body says no!

    Gorgeous châle!! 🙂
I’ve had it bookmarked on Rav for a while now. I plan on making it for myself as well.
Shame about the wrist acting up 🙁 Hope you recover quickly. There are so many beautiful shawls waiting to be made on Rav 😀
