On Saturday it was Belgian National day and as is typical for this city, there were lots of public events, and I was part of one of them! There was a world music festival going on in one of the squares, with some other entertainments, like a craft market, some circus entertainment and Senegalese food. And a Stitch and Bitch tent for my knitting group! We sat in the sun (no rain at all for once), knitting, listening to the excellent music and telling passers by about what we were up to and how they could get involved. I’ll miss this group when I leave at the weekend!
But the best thing though was that we yarnbombed the square. Well, kind of yarnbombed, over the weeks leading up to the event we knitted and crochet’d(?) 365 (! That was not planned!) triangles and made them into colourful bunting that was liberally distributed all over the square. Including some Belgian flag colours on the stage.
It was an excellent day!
P.s. Just in time for this post, the group has launched a Stitch’n’Bitch Brussels blog, so people can keep up with the meetup plans and stuff!
