This is what I wore on Christmas day. We didn’t do much, got up about 12, skyped our families, and watched the Bridge. We didn’t even start making dinner (these delicious mushroom and stilton wellingtons) til about 9.30. But I did manage contact lenses and make up for the first time since the birth. I also wore this nursing dress for the first time. I’d had a voucher so got it from JoJo Maman bebein November, but I was saving it until I actually needed the nursingness of it. It’s my fallback dress to wear to a wedding in April as well, so I’m trying to not wash it too much.
I’m not particularly into nursing clothes though, they seem a bit unnecessary. I have this dress and three nursing tops that were part of a maternity bundle I got on gumtree, but I actually prefer just wearing a vest to pull down and a long sleeved tshirt to pull up. It’s just as cover-uppy as the special tops and just as easy to do. But I do like this dress on it’s own merits, such a nice print.
In current Milo news, I survived my first week on my own. I am feeling the sleep deprivation now since he still refuses to go in the crib at night and feeds all the time. When Dave was off we’d take turns, but now I’m doing it all, so come morning I’m completely exhausted. He does still sleep a fair bit during the day so I can catch up, but he’s also discovered his full lung capacity and can cry with the best of them. It probably doesn’t help I’ve been needing to do lots of stuff to prepare for the move. Hopefully it’ll all settle into a bit more of a sensible rhythm soon! And I did manage a walk every day and took him to baby massage for the first time which was fun!
