Red and Black

I finally went through my boxes of clothes and pulled out some stuff I can now wear again, including this skirt. I am so happy to be able to wear something fitted at the waist again, I missed that silhouette! The top is a nursing top from that gumtree bundle. I don’t really like wearing it, it’s pretty low cut. Not because of the cleavageiness as such, I have no problem with that, but because it means I get cold.

I took those pictures in our spare room (yeah, we have one now, woo!). I was trying to get Milo to look at the camera, the top picture is the best I managed. Dave says he looks like Jabba the Hut in it, I can kind of see that! A very cute Jabba the Hut. I love his chubby little face!

Also taking these pictures made me aware of how terrible my posture has become. In some pictures it actually looks like I have a hunchback (am a hunchback? have hump?)! I do have a sore back all the time anyway, it’s carrying Milo around in the baby bjorn all the time. It’s guaranteed to send him to sleep and keeps my hands free for doing stuff, but I do pay for it in the end. I know I should do more yoga, but it’s difficult to find the time in the few hours when he’s asleep independently. I’ll be starting mama and baby yoga in a couple of weeks though, so that’ll be good. And maybe once we have the flat sorted I can even go in the evenings after Dave gets home.

Outfit stats:
* top – gumtree * skirt – people tree * scarf – charity shop *

    You look lovely, Franca! I especially love the third pic, where you are smiling at Milo. And I like your chair!

    The picture of you and Milo looking at each other (I am sure he’s looking at you ๐Ÿ™‚ is priceless! And your outfilt is stunning.
    I hear you about the bad posture – sitting in front of the computer or studying is not doing my back any favours.

      he’s definitely looking at me. Was pretty exciting when he started doing that in week 6!

    Oh no! Sorry about the back pain. I guess always having your body pitched forward must be doing a number. How adorable are these pictures! I know that you’re a bright colors person but you are really rocking the black and red. And I agree with the commenters above about the preciousness of the third pic!

    Hi Franca, I’ve been looking at your blog for a while and love it but haven’t commented- so for starters, congratulations to house and baby! In reverse order of course. Baby first! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Anyway, I felt obliged to point out how miraculous I found ergonomic baby carrying/baby wearing when I had my third child six years ago. I had a Babybjรถrn for the first two and it is AWFUL. It just drags the weight forward and down and puts all the stress in your shoulders. For my Minimus I had a Moby wrap instead and it was great. So much more comfortable! I urge you to give it a try, especially since your baby, like mine, seems to be a little fatso. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lots of resources online about baby wearing obviously, so there is no lack of tutorials. Give it a go for the sake of your back!

      Haha, he does look like a fatty, doesn’t he? He’s actually not putting on weight as quickly as we’d like! Mainly he is really short though (9th percentile) so any weight shows! And he has a giant head (50th percentile)!

      Will give the wrap more investigation. A lady in my baby massage showed me hers, and I do like the sound of it, mainly because you can keep it on when the baby’s not in it. I’m pretty reluctant to spend yet more money on baby stuff though.

        Well, the hippie-dippe baby-wearing community here in Sweden is great and there was always someone willing to lend newbie mothers a wrap to try, so see if you can make contact with a group on the interwebz – I’m guessing they’ll be lovely in Edinburgh too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I got mine on sale for just under 30 pounds – I was so reluctant to spend money on something that might not work, but it did so hey, bargain. Then I sewed a mei tai from linen I already had, so that was free… Sort of. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I like the lighting in the spare room and the awesome modern moon chair. And congrats on having your waistline back! Black/red are one of my favorite combos- and yet I don’t think I’ve seen you wear that combo- I like it.

    Hi Franca, how gorgeous are you both! And what a beautiful room – it has so much light for such a Scottish winter!

    I use a Woven Wrap (I’ve just posted a post with some photos of us wearing it) and find it to be very comfortable. At the start my heels ached a little from the balance of weight, but ok now… I’m going to write up a little about it soon… but also I’d recommend finding the time (yeh, I know, it’s hard) for a few massage moments… just 20 minutes or 30 minutes here and there… as your body has had 9 months of building a structure to hold & birth the baby, so it’ll take a while to get back to your normal weight balance/structure… I’ve had a few massage and physio sessions (with baby friendly healthcare providers) that have really helped my body relax/change and be stronger. Unfortunately Baby Darling skyrocketed in weight around 4 weeks, and it became so hard to pick him up/hold him etc as my body hadn’t caught up with this weight gain… Sore wrists, arms, EVERYTHING.

    But that Milo is such a charmer! I don’t see Jabba the Hut, maybe Sweetpea from the Popeye film? x
