Improvised gnome hat GIVEAWAY!

I improvised this hat! I was at the craft group and was going to make a kindle cozy but I forgot the pattern and in any case it later turned out I had taken the wrong needles anyway, so I cast on a hat, hats being the thing I’ve made so many of I can do them in my sleep. And because I only recently discovered how to do colourwork, and I had all these odds and ends of tweedy yarn to use up, I made up a little design.

I couldn’t work out how to reduce enough stitches without messing up the colour designs, so it’s longer/higher than I would normally make a hat. I made it as small as I could manage on the circular needle I had. Here’s Milo modelling it, its a little bit too big for him but not much. It would probably be perfect on a slightly bigger baby, say six- nine months? It measures 17cms across at the bottom.

So anyway, for the giveaway part: Recently, lovely reader Claire sent me a Wilkinet baby carrier (on which more another time), so incredibly generous! She didn’t include a postal address, so I couldn’t even send a thank you card, so I thought I’d do a random giveaway as a pay it forward type thing instead, and this hat appeared just in time.

I’ll keep it low tech: no complicated extra points or rafflecopter, just leave a comment telling me which little person you’d like to win this for, because I’m nosy. I’ll leave this open until Monday 24th.

Good luck!

My lovely lovely grandson who was born in October.
He is the light of my life, my reason for getting out of bed in the morning despite pain.
I thought I was a fiercely protective mother, but I’m an even fiercer grandmother or as he’s learning, Boma 🙂
I love this perfect child to the ends of time.

Oh what a beautiful piece of work Franca, I’m about a quarter of the way through knitting my first scarf ever! I’m just a beginner and I find it so soothing, I need to raid the chazzas for more wool this week. I would love to win this for Miss Tallulah Porkchop who’s expecting her first baby this July (our winter) xo

Hello. What a beautiful little hat, and it looks so cosy. Great colour combination. I would love to win this for my little 2nd cousin to-be. She is due next week. She will be living in a very hot climate with mum and dad… but when she goes back to visit all her family in Scotland, she’ll need something to keep that sweet wee heid warm and toasty.

Hello!! What a gorgeous wee hat! I would give this to my little girl. She was born in October. We live on the very chilly but beautiful Isle of Skye, so she would make lots of use out of it! 🙂 She is my fourth child so doesn’t get very many new things for her ( two big sisters and a brother mean lots of hand me downs!!) I love your blog as I used to live in Edinburgh when I was at Uni and love your colourful style! 🙂 xx
