A few weeks ago, we went to a wedding in the Scottish Borders, our only wedding this year (we must be getting old!). I wore my only nursing dress, which I had sort of bought with that occasion in mind, and hence ‘saved’ it – the only other time I wore it before then was Christmas Day. I also wore the hat I thrifted back in January, but had oddly sticky outy netting. I followed Meg‘s advice and steamed it, though we don’t have a football, so I ended up hanging bits off it after all – you can see it on my instagram here. It did work, but I then realised it maybe did look a bit too bridal after all, and I could just tell that having the netting in my face would end up annoying me. So what I did was I gathered all the netting up at the back underneath the bow and tied/sewed it together. It doesn’t look hugely tidy, but it did the trick and should be reversible easily enough. I didn’t get a close up with the proper camera, but here’s an insta selfie where you can kind of see what’s going on.
And I love how we all look colour coordinated in our greyey-brown neutrals! And with the wedding camper van too! Not planned!
I sadly got very few pictures of the wedding and reception, most of the ones I did take didn’t really turn out. In any case, I was pretty distracted because Milo was not having such a good time. I had to miss half the service because he started crying (I think because it was hot in the church), he was touch and go most of the afternoon, and Dave had to do a lot of walking around with the Baby Bjorn. When we all sat down for the meal, he was ok for a bit, and even happy to be handed about for cuddles with people, but then the speeches started and he hated the applause. I took him outside, but even so, he started kicking off big style every time there was applause. That’s his career as a show baby scuppered then! In the end we left before the first dance even, though I’m glad we were able to go to share the couple’s day even for a little bit.
