New hair and a seldom worn dress

This is, I’m fairly certain, only the second time I’ve worn this dress. The first time was at a wedding in 2011, can you believe it! I think I stashed it away because it’s such delicate fabric and handwashing is such a faff (though Dave just stuck it in the wash and it survived, phew! So maybe not that delicate a fabric). It wasn’t my first choice that night either, I was going to a charity variety show, with a vintage theme, and had planned to wear my wedding reception dress, but it is too small! I could just about zip it up, but eating or drinking anything would have been impossible, and sitting down would not have been advisable. I am back to pre pregnancy weight so I thought it should be fine, but obviously not! I’m pretty annoyed at this, because I’m really really not into intentional weight/inch loss, but on the other hand I bought that dress specifically because I could wear it again, and now I can’t. Oh well, that’s something to worry about another time!

In any case, I found this powder blue one in one of the boxes, and it did a fine job as a stand in. It actually fits me better now than when I was a bit trimmer, as I’m filling out the waist now, so the drape sits like it is meant to. Plus the wedding one might have been abit OTT, there were plenty of non dressed up people there on the night.

In other news, I got my hair cut! It was all so broken I went for a proper chop. I love the way it looks, but I’m not sure I’ll keep it, it’s too high maintenance for me, requiring blowdrying and ideally straightening as well, plus it’s too short to tie it back, so I have to cover myself in kirby grips on non-hairwash days.

Outfit stats:
vintage dress – penny dreadful vintage * shoes – clarks * jacket – charity shop * bag – fripe shop in Paris *

    Gorgeous dress!

I’m the same way with my bob; love the way it looks, hate the amount of time I spend getting it straight and neat.

I love your hair and I really love your dress. I like the fact that it’s pretty by itself, but also works with the blazer.

I love your hair, though short hair is a pain for non wash days I agree.

Gorgeous dress, you look amazing. The bob looks very glam!
One’s body definitely does change shape beyond just getting bigger and then smaller again with babies, but even once you have got to pre-pregnancy weight, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have finished changing shape. Certainly if you are still breastfeeding your bust might be different now, and will change again once you wean, in addition to other possible changes. If you are still breastfeeding you may also continue to use further weight or inches without any specific efforts to that end.

I was going to say something very similar to Jessie. My body has definitely ‘changed’ post-baby. I’m apparently the same size but clothes fit me differently; think I’m a little softer in the middle and my boobs have changed as well (even post-weaning). Same size, different shape. A little frustrating as there are all these clothes that fit but no longer look right. Plus (pre-baby) I’d finally got comfortable with my shape, size and go-to outfits. Gotta go and learn it all over again.
