We’ve lived in our new flat for 8 months now, and I’ve only just got round to taking some pictures! The flay was in great condition when we bought it, so no DIY was really done, we just painted a couple of rooms and moved in our stuff and that was it. The kitchen was one of the rooms we left completely as it was. It’s actually fairly similar to the kitchen in our old flat (which you can see here), well, same slate floor tiles from an Original Style distributer in the UK and fairly plain wooden cupboards with black marble effect workstops. It’s slightly smaller (though still big) and has stuff on only one side, so it required a bit of rejiggering to fit everything in, but that was about it.
Not having that alcove also showcases our kitchen table and chairs! I don’t think I ever showed the table on the blog before. It’s our old scratched wooden one (which we took away from the rented flat we first shared, they threw everything out when we moved out), repainted. Dave did it in the month he had off after Milo was born, doesn’t it look great? It’s one tin of green paint, progressively diluted down.
The Eames repro chairs were one of our two new purchases when we moved. There’s four of them, but one is in Milo’s current bedroom/dining room/sewing room while we have the high chair out. The pictures are prints we got at the bauhaus archive when we first went to Berlin (2002?). The one on the left is the bauhaus seen from underneath. They were hanging in our hall before we moved.
Oh, and I did do a tiny little bit of cheating: That space under the window usually has our recyling boxes in it, but they were too ugly to show!
