New shoes! I was contacted by Zalando for a review. They are an online shop that has pretty much anything, clothes shoes and housewares, but when I lived in Belgium they were heavily advertising on one of the Flemish channels that showed English TV shows and the (frankly terrible but obviously very memorable) advert was for shoes only. So I had it in my head that they are about shoes and I am on the verge of killing a pair of shoes, so I decided that that’s what I was going to spend the review voucher on, so I can’t tell you anything about their clothes or homeware selection. But shoes they have bazillions, all different brands and price points, and a really good filtering system which makes all of that manageable.
I was delighted to discover they stock El Naturalista, which I am a massive fan of, especially the multicolour designs. I went for these blue ankle boots, because I already have a green pair and a red pair. I am always worried when buying boots online whether they will fit my chunky calves, which was abother reason I ruled out the knee high pair I was also considering, but these are actually very loose. They did give me blisters at the heel as almost all new boots do with me, but I think they’ll be worn in in no time.
The photos were taken on top of Calton Hill (the venue of Milo’s first ever trip out), for Doors Open Day, where buildings usually closed to the public open their doors. We went to see Old Observatory House, the home of the Royal Astronomer when the Observatory was up there. It’s now a holiday home run by a trust that specialises in turning historical buildings into holiday homes to pay for their upkeep. You can see pictures here.
