Another sewing post! We’re keeping the momentum going!
This time it’s Dave who has a finished object to share. He’s made himself a Colette Albion coat, which we (I) discovered after Laura and her husband made a lovely checked version (link is in German). Unlike Laura, I did not help Dave one bit, he’s the person with the sewing skillz (sorry, I can never resist that z) in our household.
So what can I say about it? This was really practice version for the real thing which will be made from uber-splurgy Harris Tweed he’s bought himself with his birthday money (you can see him posing with it on instagram).
This here is the jacket version (the tweed will be a coat), it’s unlined and made from very fray-ey upholstery cotton from ikea. All the seams are beautifully finished with handsewn bias binding – with I am really appreciating as I am in the process of handsewing the bias binding on a Sorbetto and am making a right mess of it. And look at how all the horizontal stripes match up, watching sewing bee has been good for something!
