What I wore: Handmade orange maxi dress

sewing class dress
sewing class dress

This is the dress I made in the red thread sewing class! Nice, intit? I’m not really a maxi person, mainly cos I’m a shortarse and they’re always too long. But obviously when you make it yourself you can pick the length! I actually love the feeling of it, especially in the unusually balmy weather we’ve been having.

The fabric is kind of all sun sand and holidays as well. I bought it from Edinburgh fabrics, I actually had a different print in mind when we went but it was comprehensively poo pood by Dave so I went for this batik one instead. And I really love it! I had to go back at a later point to get the fabric for the belt. It does actually match, there’s small patches of the colour in the suns on the main fabric.

Edited to add I’m submitting this to a blogger competition on the theme of summer, because really you can’t get any more summery than this dress, can you? Plus I feel that it is perfect for the weather since it has been extremely hot lately, I am even about to install a new air conditioner unit at home. And in previous summers I wouldn’t even have been able to wear this, but this year it’s so lovely and warm (and sometimes even too hot!), I can’t quite believe it! This dress is actually a perfect breezy addition to my (miniscule) summer wardrobe!

Wow, this is such a lovely dress, and the fact you made it yourself is so talented! I think the orange batik fabric is perfect for summer, parties or beach picnics 😀
