It’s been a funny old year for this blog and for blogging in general. Fashion blogging is over, apparently, the sewing blogger community went overcomercialised, people got a bit sick of it and discovered GOMI in the process, hardly anyone blogs daily any more* and comment numbers are seriously down.
Oranges and Apples is a very different thing now to what it was a few years ago, and I’ll probably never go back to spending the forever researching and writing meaty thinky posts, there will continue to be lots of kiddie photos, especially with the picobee arriving in June and I do hope to continue to learn to sew, so hopefully there will be more of that. And there will definitely still be outfit photos, cos that’s where I started from, and I actually really like reading them, so I’ll keep them, even if they’re not fashionable any more! But after all this time and having maintained a pretty regular schedule through having a baby, going back to work and all that ridiculous studying, I can’t imagine ever stopping. It’s still a great creative outlet for me, it makes me focus on taking good pictures and sorting them out/selecting the best ones, and even though I hardly comment on blogs at all now** I do still read a lot and I get a lot out of that little glimpse into other’s lives. And I truly appreciate all of you that are reading, and sometimes commenting!
So thank you, all of you! And a Happy New Year!
* this all happened shortly after I went through a massive purge of my reader because I couldn’t keep up with the constant stream of posts. Now I can easily read every single post in my reader and I’ve actually thought about finding more blogs to follow. If you have any good recommendations, or you write a blog, please let me know, and I’ll definitely check it out!
** I read on my phone and always bookmark stuff to comment on, but when I actually sit down to do it, the posts are so old I usually end up unsaving the bulk of them. But I do try to say hello occasionally because I know how nice it is to get these comments from people you haven’t heard from in ages!
