As I mentioned we had a long weekend in Northumberland the weekend before last. We weren’t allowed in the cottage we were staying in til 4, but since Dave had the day off and it only takes a couple of hours to drive from Edinburgh we set off straight after Milo’s gymnastics and got there at lunch time. We spent the afternoon in Bamburgh castle which is just beautiful. Weirdly, Bamburgh is a small village despite having a large castle (meanwhile Seahouses, which sounds like, well, a collection of houses, is a town). It’s right on the beach as well, so you get these amazing views and we were in such luck with the weather the whole weekend! They also had lots of these old (as in historical) games dotted about the courtyard that you could play which kept us all entertained. That’s not a hoola hoop there, but a game that’s about keeping a hoop rolling for as long as possible with a stick.

I do apologise for the masses of photos!

Wow, it looks absolutely perfect. What a special thing, to have old toys available for play, and not just behind glass! Glad you had such a nice break.

Oh they weren’t the actual old ones, just reproductions equivalent to what they would have had in the 18th century or whenever!

What a beautiful place Bamburg is. We go to there quite a lot. The castle is stunning. Looks like you all had a great time. Northumberland is a fantastic place for a holiday. Xx
