Ellis at 3 months

So, baby Ellis is three months! Here’s his latest batch of pictures. No week 9 because some work stuff happened and I forgot. I’ll be doing this until a week after his first birthday I guess! Anyway, lots happening recently. Teething, standing up (supported of course), sitting in the high chair, rolling over. Where is my tiny baby gone??? He’s such a sociable baby, the other day we were at the library, I put him down on one of their baby mats while I was reading Milo a story, when all these older children arrived to do a craft thing, and Ellis was totally happy to stay on the floor while people stepped around him.

Some not so good news as well, I wasn’t sure whether to even mention it as I only found out on Thursday ad it might all resolve itself, but he’s really slowed down on his weight gain, dropping from 91st percentile to 50th. The health visitors are worried when a baby drops over two of the lines on the chart (the 91st and 75th percentile in this case). It’s all a bit of a mystery as he’s feeding well, not throwing up any more, seems happy and only wakes up once in the night, so unsurprisingly I never even thought to worry about his weight gain. There’s a couple of things I’m trying so hopefully he’ll steady out now.

Ooh what a sweetie (and I love his knits!) He looks like a very contented baby.

Oh, pesky growth charts! If he’s feeding well and otherwise growing/developing then why worry? I had a similar sort of scare with my middle child, who was described as ‘rather small’ by my GP when she was 5 months old. When I had her weighed she was on the 9th centile – but had been on the 75th at birth. The HV looked really worried. Middle child was absolutely fine (and now a very spunky 6 yr old) – she just didn’t grow along the curve in the book!

Aww, your son is adorable. Such a beautiful smile. What lovely photos. Yes, I wouldn’t worry either. Maybe he is just saving it up for a growth spurt. My daughter did. 🙂 Xx

Such gorgeous pictures, what a delicious boy.
I too wouldn’t worry too much about the growth chart; as others have said, most babies have their spurts and slow periods with growth. Of course you want to keep an eye on it, but one change is not a trend and the charts are only one pattern.
As knitlass says, if he’s eating, happy, and meeting development expectations, (& even sleeping!), he sounds pretty good!
