The Friday before we took a wee trip on the bus to Gorgie City Farm, a community farm that is being threatened with closure, unless they can raise £100K. I’m not sure how much they still have left to go last I heard it was 25K, which was a while ago, but the flow of donations is slowing down, and I think I would have heard if they’d met their target. Anyway, we went to deliver our donations in person. It would be such a shame if it closed down!
It was colder and windier than I than I thought, so we didn’t stay too long, and really missed there being a cafe – there used to be one belonging to the farm, but it was a bit crap and making a loss so it was shut down. That was the first sign of the problems to come actually. Still don’t understand how it couldn’t be handed over to someone who knows what they’re doing, it faces onto the street and I don’t for one second believe it couldn’t be turned profitable, but supposedly they have considered this option fully and would prefer to have an empty building for now. Who knows.
Anyway, the exciting news that did come out of that day is that Milo is pretty good at framing a picture! These were all taken by him on my phone, except the ones he’s in. He didn’t go round choosing what to take pictures of (though he does that now), but when I asked him if he wanted to take a picture of whatever thing it was, he took all these allbyhimself as he likes to say.
